Together, we can.
Our History
Erik began looking into the idea of opening a water cremation business on Cape Cod in 2020. After countless hours of research, speaking with industry experts, and visiting a functioning water cremation facility, he decided to make the idea a reality.
Opening during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 posed several unexpected challenges. Erik however feels it was actually a blessing in disguise as it resulted in slower, more healthy growth of the business. This extra time allowed him to be able to think about and dedicate the time required to fine tune all aspects of the business. What he has developed is a ‘cookbook’ to opening a water cremation facility. Since that time, we’ve provided on-site tours and help to people across the United States looking to potentially start a water cremation business.
Realizing the unique challenges in starting his own pet water cremation facility, and hearing about the similar challenges of others, led to the opening of our consulting business in 2022. Since then, we've been able to assist other individuals navigate this process by providing guidance and resources. Our services will save you considerable time and are designed to help you open a pet water cremation facility with proven, robust policies and procedures.
Our founder
Erik Tarvin
For as long as he can remember, Erik has shared an equal love of animals and the outdoors. From playing in the tide pools as a kid while visiting my grandparents in California to camping with my dog in the Green Mountain National Forest, there has always been a synergy between the two.
Erik saw the need for a thoughtful, local pet crematorium within our community and the rest of Cape Cod and the Islands. He discovered Aquamation and resonated with its gentle, environmentally friendly approach. Erik’s vision is to offer a local service that honored his love of nature and his fondness for his own dog, Snoopy (10.11.2009–11.15.2022).
Prior to making the decision to open, Erik did extensive research to make sure this was the right decision for him, as well as determine exactly what would be required. Although he spent countless hours researching, speaking with industry experts, and visiting other water cremation facilities, Erik found that there was still a steep learning curve after opening for business in 2021.
Erik holds a BSME from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, with professional expertise as a process development engineering within the MEMS (micro-electromechanical system) field. While an engineer, he was awarded two patents as a co-inventor (US US8058144B2 and US US7981723B2). After leaving the engineering field, Erik had successfully opened a retail business on Cape Cod that quickly grew to three stores with over $1 million in annual revenue.
An avid outdoorsman, Erik enjoys skiing, backpacking, and hiking whenever and wherever he can. He is also an active member of the Cape Sangha and First Light Sangha where he practices mindful meditation.
He lives year-round in Brewster with his fiancé and dog Lari.
